Lucky Number 'Seven' for Schumacher

Like a couple of his front-running rivals, Michael Schumacher would be hoping to break his winless duck at the Canadian Grand Prix next weekend.
The German driver is yet to emerge victorious since he returned to Formula 1 with Mercedes but has his best chance to erase that record this season with a competitive car.
The upcoming race at the Circuit Gilles Villenueve could be the venue where the Mercedes driver – who has not even registered a podium finish since 2010 - might turns the tables.
"As we head to Montreal, the question everybody´s asking is: will we see a seventh different winner in seven races?” asked Mercedes Motorsport vice president Norbert Haug pointing out that the high probability of the emergence of the Safety Car in Canada could be a factor in the results.
“At two of the past four race weekends, Mercedes had the speed to qualify and race at the front of the field,” he continued referring to Schumacher’s pole position in Monaco only to be watered down with a grid penalty.
“Nico has converted this competitiveness into 59 points in the past four races - the most of any driver in the field,” he highlighted. “Michael has suffered several technical problems and our priority is to give him a problem-free weekend in Montreal.
“As his fastest qualifying time in Monaco demonstrated, Michael has the speed to compete at the front,” he added. “He has won seven times in Montreal, his Silver Arrow carries number seven and Canada will be race seven of the 2012 world championship...”
Schumacher added that the characteristics of the circuit should suit the German manufacturer's car further boosting hopes of the team.
"A trip to Montreal is always worth it. And let's hope we can make our trip this year especially worthwhile,” said the seven-time world champion.
